Happy Labor Day!

Those of us in the US and Canada are looking forward to a long Labor Day weekend. Whether Labor Day means intense retail therapy in the form of back-to-school sales or simply the end of wearing summer whites, we here at Inside AdWords will be taking a day off to rest in the true spirit of the holiday. We hope you'll find some time to do the same as well.

We'll be back next week!

Speaking in more languages

Many Google products (Google.com, Blogger, Google Earth, and others) currently support more than 170 languages, from Abhazian to Zulu. Translations into most of these languages are done by volunteers from around the world who are eager to help people view and search the web in their own native language. To facilitate how we go about getting these languages, we created a volunteer translation program: Google In Your Language.

Anybody can sign up as a volunteer translator by visiting the Language Tools page and then clicking on the Google in Your Language link. After verification, you'll be offered a list of products to translate, including the main search site, Gmail, iGoogle, Google Maps, and many others

Although the amount of translation for each project is not overwhelming, it usually takes weeks for an individual volunteer to finish translating one site. Once a reasonable percentage of translations for Google pages in a given language is submitted, we'll add your language to production and, after a bit of time, you'll be able to see them in yet another language.

Some "volunteer" languages are well represented and are nearly finished being translated, i.e. Armenian, Estonian, Slovenian are 95% complete; even Latin has 70% of its translations done. Representatives of other languages are not as active, i.e. Abhazian has been available for several years, but so far we don't have enough translations completed to release it into production. Tibetan, Inupak, Inuktikut, Wolof, Zhuang all have less than 10% of their content translated. Interestingly, each of those has more speakers than Faroese, which has 74% of texts translated.

Recently we have added a bunch of new languages to the Google In Your Language program, including Navajo, Filipino, several Russian Federation languages (Avaric, Chechen, Chuvash, Komi), and some African languages (Akan, Bambara, Gikuyu, Kongo, Ndebele, Ndongo, Nyanja, Venda). Our hope is to attract even more volunteers to participate in this program so that Google can speak all the world's languages one day.

Google Desktop for the Mac in 9 more languages

In April we launched Google Desktop for the Mac to further our goal of delivering great products on the Mac and making them universally available on all platforms. A big thanks to all of you for using Desktop for the Mac, and for sharing your feedback. Today we're tackling the second part of that "universal" goal: now Google Desktop for the Mac is available in 9 more languages: Chinese Simplified and Traditional, Dutch, UK English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish. There's more on this on the Desktop for Mac site.

We look forward to lots more of you trying it and sending us feedback from all over, and in different languages. We hope you like it, and encourage you to watch for more updates from our Google Mac team.

The Rest is Cake....

Literally and figuratively! I mean once those 5 big things (5 F's, see below) are done - everything else is cake! There's stationary, cake, miscellaneous - the fun stuff.

All that fun stuff really can tie the whole wedding together! Whether it's a monogram or a theme of some kind (usually a color or a flower type) - it's nice to notice a trend.

Check out this super elegant and fun vineyard theme.... I love the table numbers in the wine bags, those are made out of cork, so it's a very green way to go! Sparklers as the send off, the invitations were made form recycled paper and cork (again green!), cork backed table cards (green!), cork (green, green and green!)boxes filled with personalized colored Jordan Almonds, the bouquet is beautiful, just a super elegant and classy way to theme a wedding!

Mariah Carry

The best-selling female performer of the 1990s, Mariah Carey rose to superstardom on the strength of her stunning five-octave voice; an elastic talent who moved easily from glossy ballads to hip-hop-inspired dance-pop, she earned frequent comparison to rivals Whitney Houston and Celine Dion, but did them both one better by composing all of her own material. Born in Long Island, NY, on March 27, 1970, as the daughter of a former opera singer and vocal coach -- and named after the song "They Call the Wind Mariah" from the popular Lerner and Loewe musical Paint Your Wagon Mariah began singing at the age of four, and was writing her own songs by the time she was attending Oldfield Middle School. She moved to New York City, the day after graduating from high school. Carey moved to New York City at the age of 17 to pursue a music career; there she befriended keyboardist Ben Margulies, with whom she began writing songs. Her big break came as a backing vocalist on a studio session with dance-pop singer Brenda K. Starr, who handed Carey's demo tape to Columbia Records head Tommy Mottola at a party. According to legend, Mottola listened to the tape in his limo while driving home that same evening, and was so immediately struck by Carey's talent that he doubled back to the party to track her down.

The Report Center gets a makeover

You may notice some changes to the AdWords Report Center -- this week, we simplified the main Reports page, and also introduced a new format for report graphs. If you've ever used Google Analytics, you'll probably recognize the new graphical layout. The improved Report Center should make your data much easier to process, so we hope you'll enjoy these changes! See the image below for an example report:

They always use health conscience, local ingredients as much as possible, and it's always delicious! She also just opened a great little Cafe for Breakfast called Sisters. Oh! And Monica is also the face of Mad Housewives Wine!!! So she's totally famous!

Cruzada

Cruzada: *** (Buena)

Fun!

This is the final installment of our 5 F's series, and it sure has been fun! (no pun intended)

Fun for a wedding reception would account for the band or DJ, this can also include any live music you have for a ceremony as well. Personalizing the ceremony is always a treat for your guest, don't you think? I mean when the bride and groom have kissed and they are announced as husband and wife, and then they are about to walk down the aisle and you are ready for "Dumm-dumm-da-dumm-dumm-dumm-dum-da-da-da-da-dummmmmm" and instead you hear "Let's Celebrate" or your favorite Beatles song, or "The Gator, Orange and Blue" Song, it's fantastic and it gets your guests ready for the fun'ness that is about to happen. The Reception.

Wedding Bands (I don't mean the ones you wear) have come along way! And so have disc jockey's - Bands are no longer cheesy, have songs that all sound the same- things can be completely customized to what you need and how you want it. For instance I just had a duo learn "The Feather Song" from Forrest Gump for a client - and it brought tears to the eyes of everyone there! Thanks Gosia and Ali! It was really beautiful - and the next moment they can play "We are Family" - make sure that the band you are working with sends you a DVD, this way you can not only see them in action but how they work with the crowd too.

DJ's have also gone from campy to classy! There used to be a lot of DJ's that would sing to the music and make themselves the center of attention - (I am sure there are still a few of them out there) but beware, ask lots of questions! Get references from vendors especially, we work with these companies week-in and week-out, so feel free to ask around. I find companies like Solutions Entertainment and Storybook Events work very hard to make sure that the guests have a great time - and the bride and groom are the center of attention.

Check out my friend Peter Merry's new book, it totally rocks it's called The Best Wedding Reception Ever, it has some great ideas for a fun and totally unique wedding reception.

Check out these images of Robin's wedding, photographed by Damon Tucci, the band was Derek & The Slammers - everyone is totally having Fun!!!
